| For several years I have been searching for inforation about my great—3 grandfather Johan Joachim Christopher Evers. He is supposed to have been born in about 1780-1782. In the 1830s he emigrated to Norway, but prior to that he was a burger in Rostock. I have searched the churchbooks of Rostock and surrounding towns, but have not been able to find him baptized. This is a long shot, but in Norway he called his property Ruhental. I then thought that he migt have named the property after his hometown. Is it possible that he came from Ruhental/Lopienko? When he got married in Norway he stated that his fathers occupation was as a baker. I would appreciate it very much if anyone could help me to find out if he in fact came from the village of Ruhental in Westpreussen. |

| Hello Kjetil, as you can learn from the Ortsverzeichnis Ruhental in County Flatow as well as Ruhenthal in County Schwetz are not villages but only "Wohnplatz" that means small Settlements with only one or two buildings. Informations to the relevant parishes for these places you can from the respective "Details" given there. I fear you will not be successful in fining any Evers there, because this namily name is not widespread and very seldom in Westprussia. But in Mecklenburg/Rostock you can find very very much Ervers. I'm sure that he can be found there. You write that his birth date is estimated to be between 1780 and 1782. But is that correct and based on which informations? From WWW (Google) I got the following Information: Johan Joachim Christopher Evers (JJCE) married 1844 in Bergen/Norway Dor(o)the Regine Brun (born 1820). They had several children from 1843 to 1859. Supposed JJCE was Born in 1780 he would have been 64 years old when he married his wife 40 years younger than himself. At the birth of the last child in 1859 he would have been 79 years old!!! This leads me to the assumption that you might have been searching for his baptism in the church books of Rostock and surrounding area at the wrong time period. What do you think? | Dear Reiner, thank you so much for your answer. I have got quite much information about JJC Evers, and it is actually correct, he was aprox 40 years older than his second wife Dorothea Regine. Quite unusual, but a fact:-) |

| Dear Reiner, Evers married his first wife, Catharina Dorothea Holtfreder, in St. Jacoby in Rostock 18. Desember 1815. They had stillborn twins registeret in St. Jacoby 18. Januar 1816. They never had any more children, but Evers got two children out of wedlock with a woman in Bergen in the 1830s. Dorothea Catharina also died in Norway in the 1830s. The stillborn twins were mentioned in her obituary in the local newspaper. |

| Good morning Kjetil, I think I have good news for you as I most probably have found the baptism record for JJC EVERS (26.3.1781) and some more in the church books of parish Kessin close to Rostock. I will send you an email soon with more details (links, Scans). |
